MIKE DAVIES — PROPRIETOR

GRAPHIC DESIGNER, BASEBALL FANATIC, PIZZA ENTHUSIAST.

I am a New Jersey/New York-based graphic designer specializing visual identity and brand design.

After emigrating to the United States in 2015 I graduated from the Shillington School of Graphic Design, after which I worked as a designer at an independent design agency in New York City.

Outside of work, baseball in particular has become a huge part of both mine and my wife’s lives since we settled in the city and we have held season tickets at Citi Field since 2017.

We also love to use our baseball fandom to see North America, so far being able to catch the Mets in D.C., Chicago, San Francisco, Milwaukee, Boston and Toronto, as well as visiting the ballparks in Baltimore, Oakland and Seattle in non-Mets related trips.

OSCAR — INTERN/SECURITY

HALF CHIHUAHUA, HALF COMPLETE RUNT, WEARER OF SWEATERS.

Hired in the fall of 2018, Oscar has so far failed to master any of his basic responsibilities. Never makes coffee, never opens the mail and constantly needs the bathroom.

Provides adequate security for the office when not sleeping on the job.

Eats like a machine.

WHY “MUTINY THIRTEEN”?

Mutiny13 is the social media name I was using when I first started casually posting my design and illustration work. The story begins back in the mists of time when, after a number of years in the wrong career, I made the reckless noble, yet nonetheless risky decision to quit my job, go back to school and take my first steps on the path towards becoming the man I wanted to be. A graphic designer!

This, as you can imagine, was no easy decision and the tearing up of life’s rulebook felt like a rebellion against every one of my previous life decisions. For added spice, thirteen has always been my lucky number. I was born on Friday 13th and as a result have never been bothered by superstition, tradition, or anything designed to hold us back or get in the way of our own growth and development, whether it be personal or societal. Mutiny13 reminded me during the tough moments, when it felt like burning it all down and starting again was maybe the wrong choice, that we always have the power to reframe the future.

After several happy years working as an in-house designer in NYC, I took another leap and decided the time had come to work for myself. It seemed perfectly sensible to keep the name going and so the Mutiny Thirteen Design Studio was born. Funnily enough the domain was available and so here we are!

Thanks for stopping by!
